Okuama killing: Police Declares Clark, Isaac, others Wanted – The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command has declared Friday Clark and Onovughakpo Otuavwoga Isaac wanted in connection to the murder of 17 army personnel.
This was contained in a press release by the police command while assisting the military in hunting down all suspects connected to the killing of the military officers who were said to have been on a peace mission at Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Recall that on March 14, 2024, 17 military personnel comprising 4 officers and 13 soldiers of the 181 Amphibious Battalion were ambushed and killed by some irate youths in the Okuama community. In the light of this, the military has been combing the creeks in the community and other areas in search of the perpetrators wherein the Defence Headquarters of the military had earlier declared eight persons wanted in connection to the murder.
It vowed that the military would leave no stone unturned in apprehending persons of interest and their cohorts connected to the dastardly incident. The eight persons earlier declared includes Ekpekpo Arthur, a professor of physics at the Delta State University; Akeywiru Omotegbono, Andaowei Bakrikri, Igoli Ebi, a lady; Akata David, Sinclear Oliki, and Reuben Baru. Meanwhile, Clark and his accomplice, Isaac who are stakeholders of the community youth wing, are now on the wanted list for their roles that allegedly truncated the peace mission by the military.
It was alleged that Clark and Isaac instigated the youths and elders against the request of the military personnel shortly after a caucus meeting with the elders and leaders of the community a day before the heinous crime was committed. According to a source, “the resistance led some over-zealous personnel began to shoot sporadically during which some of the community elders and leaders were shot dead, while others were seriously injured.” The source further disclosed that the killing of the soldiers was beyond the lingering land dispute between Okuama and Okoloba in Bomadi local government area, as insiders point to divergences on oil bunkering, adding that the demanding search for the killers of the soldiers has spread to the creaks, hideouts and communities in Delta State, Bayelsa, Rivers State, and likely to extend to other states in the Niger-Delta and beyond if need be.
However, the police urged members of the public to help the military and other security agencies with information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
